In Japan, the aging population of agricultural workers and the decline of young people in agriculture has led to an increase in abandoned farmland andnegative effects upon plant life.
One such area is in Kinkō, a town located in Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima Prefecture, once known for its tea production but which has since stopped due to a decline in tea consumption. Large stretches of tea seed farmland have been left unpruned for years, and as a result have created a surplus of tea seeds in the area.
To address these issues, kiiks has collaborated with entrepreneur and model Rola to develop a nourishing hair oil made from these very tea seeds.
Tea Seed Oil is a highly beloved and sought-after ingredient that is native to Japan. It’s extracted from the seeds of the ancient Camellia tree, and while it is most strongly associated with green tea or matcha, people living in regions where Camellia trees grow in abundance have long cherished the oil for its health benefits and versatility.

Smooth and woodsy Sandalwood mingles with rich, floral Jasmine for an earthy and refreshing finish that harmonizes the body and mind. Tea Seed Oil

Tea seed oil is rich in oleic acid, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids, making it highly moisturizing for hair, scalp, and skin. Packed with protective antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, Tea Seed Oil gently nourishes and calms while protecting hair and skin against environmental damage.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is extracted from the jojoba plant, a unique shrub that is able to thrive in harsh, semi-arid environments and regions. A natural emollient that helps to lock in and retain moisture to skin and hair, jojoba oil is renowned for its ability to regulate sebum production while also hydrating and replenishing skin and hair without clogging pores. This highly replenishing plant oil is a rich source of numerous fatty acids and can also help to calm skin, hair, and scalp that’s prone to irritation. Because it’s a stable oil (meaning it won’t break down when exposed to high heat) Jojoba oil is beneficial to use before drying hair and can help shield the scalp and hair cuticle against UV damage.
Camellia Oil
The Kurokami area in Sakurajima, Kagoshima Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading producers of camellia oil. The camellia oil we use is a precious oil extracted from "Sakurajima camellia seeds" using traditional cold-pressing methods. It is characterized by a high percentage of oleic acid, which is also abundant in human sebum, allowing for smooth absorption into the scalp. Among natural oils, it is known for being the least prone to oxidation, helping to retain moisture needed for hair, providing strength and elasticity, and resulting in shiny, lustrous hair.
Sandalwood
Sandalwood is a fragrant wood native to the tropical regions of Asia. Cherished for centuries and widely used in many cultures as incense, it embodies a warm and earthy scent with a subtly sweet and musky finish. These soft and warming notes are known to have a soothing effect on the mind and body and help to create an overall sense of tranquility.
Jasmine
Known as the “King of Flowers”, Jasmine has a rich and complex scent that is sweet, green, and fruity with a musky edge and nuanced, powdery finish.
